A house-warming party is the celebration of a new home. It is an occasion for the hosts to present their new house to their guest. HouseHeating, on the other hand, is the celebration of an old house with new qualities. It requires a different intensity, duration and urgency. Heat is not only considered as a production of warmth, it’s a change of state, a transformation of energies. Heat is produced in the intensity of encounters, in the friction of bodies, in the incalculable moments of sharing a space, in the extensive try outs of improbable situations, in hot experiences, unlikely combinations of collaborators and a million more side effects. In a house heating party, the heat might affect your body or your mind, it may come in all colours and shapes. It will not allow you to be a spectator: you might sweat and steam, radiate and shine, be on fire or melt away.
The HouseHeating of Heizhaus is curated by PSR, a group of artists that wish to establish a space that focuses on collective research, communal situations and transfer of knowledge. The ambition here is to create a platform for sharing of experiences and practices where invited participants have to persist in working together taking in account the differences and possible disagreements between their perspectives. Our desire is to foster relations between people. We want to use spending time as a way of manufacturing new bonds and recognising the al-ready established one.
House-heating is a 25hours event that consists of sharing different practices addressing the topic of heat making and heat provoking. The event is divided in different time-blocks moderated by different practitioners coming from different backgrounds and media; from dance, theory, visual arts, martial arts etc. The main precondition is that all invited practitioners take part during the whole event. The audience is welcome to come, go and stay in the Heizhaus throughout the 25 hours.
