Name of the program:
LIFE LONG BURNING (LLB) - DANCE HUB Berlin: Exchanging Practices & Tour Through Tanztage
When: January 8th – January 18, 2020
Application deadline: 25. December 2019
Exchanging Practices & Tour Through Tanztage is a guided & shared do-it-yourself exercise in watching and talking about the work seen in Tanztage, your own artistic interests, professional practice and experienced difficulties in creating dance works. Participating artists are actively encouraged to bring in their own themes and topics which they want to discuss beforehand.
In the frame of the Tanztage Festival, taking place at the theatre Sophiensaele, you will be one of 3 Berlin based performers invited to visit - together with dancers sent from our partner organizations - all of the Tanztage performances. The performance-visits will be framed by intense afternoon discussion & exchange sessions within the small group, discussing the work seen, sharing thoughts on artistic, aesthetic and curatorial intents and exchanging on the daily practice, problems encountered and solutions found of a young artist in general. The sessions will be accompanied by Berlin/Amsterdam based curator Inge Koks, and visited by guest speakers and some of the Tanztage artists.
Possible topics include:
- presentation and discussion of own work
- discussion on context where work is created
- productional & work conditions and their impact on the artist’s practice
- curatorial strategies of festival and theatres
- Feedback strategies and publicity
- Solo vs. group productions etc.
If you want to be a part of this challenging experience please send your biography and a very short motivation letter including your themes of interest, or a link to a short video/audio describing you and your motivation to participate to firstname.lastname@example.org with the title LLB-TourThroughTanztage.
An expense allowance will be covered by Uferstudios on invoice. Benefitting artists are expected to prepare a little input (verbal or practical) and write a short feedback report on their experience which will be published on the website of LLB.
