Information on accessibility

Uferstudios for contemporary dance is continuously working on improving accessibility in order to offer all visitors a stay with as few barriers as possible. On this page you will find an overview of the accessibility of our spaces and offerings. As an organization, we are in the process of raising awareness. Are you missing more information to know if a space or event is accessible for you? Or do you have a question? Then feel free to contact Lea-Maria Kneisel: presse@uferstudios.com or 030 460 60 887.

Tickets

Tickets for Uferstudios GmbH events can be booked through the online ticket store. If this is not accessible to you, you can also book your tickets by e-mail or telephone. To do so, contact us at veranstaltung@uferstudios.com or by phone at +49 (0)30 460 60 887. Please note that tickets for events of Uferstudios GmbH's partners can be purchased via the individual ticket systems linked in the respective events. Admission is free for persons accompanying people with disabilities (official ID for severely disabled persons is not required for this purpose).

Accessibility of individual events

Information on barrier-free offerings, such as audio descriptions, tactile and stage tours, as well as information on the languages used, can be found on the individual detail pages of the respective event.

We endeavor to provide individual trigger warnings, so-called content notes, for the individual events, which provide information about potentially incriminating content. Communication about this allows potential visitors to decide for themselves whether a performance is accessible for them in terms of content or not. Please understand that content notes are not available for all events. Please feel free to contact us via email at presse@uferstudios.com or by phone at 030 460 60 887 if you would like to request information about specific incriminating content for specific events in advance.

In addition, under the "Accessibility" tab on the individual event pages, you will find information on the use of strobe lights, loud sound, as well as special effects such as fog, which may pose a health hazard to some visitors.

Seating

Seating in our studios is customized. We offer beanbag and wheelchair seating for all events. Reservations for these can be made in advance by calling +49 (0)30 460 60 887 or emailing mail@uferstudios.com.

Assistance dogs

Assistance dogs are generally allowed at all events. Exceptions to this rule are expressly indicated on the individual event pages.

Directions

By public transportation, the best way to reach Uferstudios for Contemporary Dance is via the Pankstraße subway station (U8; bus lines M27 and N8) and the Osloer Straße subway station (U8 and U9; streetcar lines M13 and 50; bus lines 150, 255, N8, N9, and N52).

The Osloer Straße subway station has an elevator and a guidance system for the blind. From here it is about 600 m to the Uferstudios.

The subway station Pankstraße is approx. 400 m away from the Uferstudios, but is still under reconstruction and is therefore currently not accessible without steps. Further information can be viewed here.

Pick-up service

For public events of Uferstudios GmbH, we offer a free pick-up service for disabled persons from the subway station Osloer Straße. Registration for this service is required up to 48 hours in advance by calling 030 460 60 887 or sending an e-mail to mail@uferstudios.com.

If you are unable to register in time, you can make use of the free escort service offered by VBB, which can take you from your front door to the Uferstudios. Online registration is available up to one day in advance: https://www.vbb.de/vbb-services/barrierefreiheit/begleitservice/. If you need help with the organization, please feel free to contact us and we will support you.

Parking

There are two disabled parking spaces in the Uferstudios courtyard. These are located at the level of the dance office (indicated by the blue signage) and in front of the Heizhaus complex extension, to the right of the chimney.

Accessibility of the premises

The Uferstudios site can be reached via two ground-level entrances, which are usually open Monday through Friday from about 8 am to 7 pm and are thus freely passable during these hours. The entrance at Badstraße 41a is 1.10 m wide and not intended for vehicles. Due to construction work, there is currently an unclear routing on Badstraße itself at the intersection of Exerzierstraße/Koloniestraße. We ask for special caution here. Vehicles enter the premises exclusively via the entrance at Uferstraße 23. There are also currently traffic restrictions in Uferstraße due to reconstruction work. For up-to-date information on this, you can reach us on weekdays from 9 am to 5 pm by phone on 030 460 60 887 or by email at mail@uferstudios.com. If the electric rolling gate at Uferstraße 23 is not open and thus access is not possible, please contact our staff who will be happy to open the gate for you. You can reach the office Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm at +49 (0)30 460 60 887 or by mail via mail@uferstudios.com. In urgent cases, the evening service can be reached by phone and SMS on event evenings at +49 (0)151 175 039 62.

Paths on the premises

The premises do not have a guidance system for the blind. From the Badstraßen entrance it is about 33 m (about 55 steps) to Studio 1, 110 m (about 180 steps) to the staircase of the Tanzfabrik office wing and 207 m (about 340 steps) to the Heizhaus. Detailed directions for blind and visually impaired persons from the a subway station nearby across the grounds to Studio 1, 14, the office wing and the Heizhaus will soon be available for download here.

Accessibility of event and rehearsal rooms

Studio 1 has a 1.5 m lowered area, accessible only by 7 steps. Thus, the studio is not barrier-free on the lower area. Access to the upper part of the studio is possible without steps. The studio has two wheelchair places.

Studio 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 11 are accessible without steps, but have a raised wooden floor area, which is accessible via a 1.5% sloping feeder ramp.

Studio 4, 7, 10 and 13 are completely at ground level and therefore accessible without steps.

Studio 12 and 14 are almost at ground level. In the studios themselves there is no raised area or similar. There is a slight slope of 1.0% from the outside to the entrance of each studio. Studio 14 has two wheelchair places.

To enter Studio 16, a 15 cm high step must be passed. If required, a mobile ramp is available here, which should be operated with an assistant.

Studio 17 and the Café The Source on the shore are accessible via a 6.60 m long ramp with a gradient of 5.2%.

In addition to the ramp with a 5.2% incline, the Heizhaus can be reached via a further 6.80 m long ramp with a 6% incline.

The office wing on the 1st floor is not accessible without steps. This is where Seminar Room 1 and the offices of the Tanzfabrik and the Hochschulübergreifendes Zentrum Tanz (HZT) Berlin are located.

Early Boarding

For public events of Uferstudios GmbH, there is the possibility of early boarding (advance admission) for all persons who would like a specific seat or a more relaxed admission. This starts 30 minutes before the performance. To take advantage of this offer, simply contact our box office staff on site. If early boarding is not possible due to artistic decisions, there will be a note on the individual event page.

Barrier-free sanitary facilities

There are two barrier-free WCs with showers (measuring 2.6 m x 2.1 m) on the premises, which can be accessed without steps. The door width of the respective sanitary facilities is 0.95 m. The toilets are located in the foyer of studios 3, 4 and 5, as well as in the extension of the boiler house complex (by the chimney), which is accessible via a 1.2 m wide ramp with a 5.2% incline and a length of 6.60 m.

Corona Measures

In the context of public events of Uferstudios GmbH, we offer FFP2 masks to visitors for voluntary use free of charge at the box office. Additional measures to protect against Covid-19 are determined individually by the respective event organizers. In the event of additional measures, information will be provided on the respective event pages.
