Blac Blob will hold a workshop and jam sessions as well as host an orchestrated concert in the end. Firstly, 12 participants learn about the basics of electronics and ways of electronic construction in a crash course, from reading a circuit diagram to soldering circuit boards.
Finally, noise generators, sound machines and sculptures will be invented, planned and built, ready to be installed in the courtyard and surroundings of Uferstudios. Evening jam sessions will test these constructions and nosy passers-by will be invited to get involved, interact and play along.
The workshop should be considered as a place to share experience, knowledge and interests, where you can learn something about electronics and exchange your thoughts and ideas during the process.
On top, you will be presented with helpful tips of how to acquire the necessary individual components by repurposing found materials. There will be some serious salvaging / recycling / upcycling happening.
You will not need any previous knowledge in order to take part in the workshop.
On the fourth of July there will be a big concert as part of the “Kulturexpedition Unverblümt” involving the self-made noise generators and other objects from the Blac-Blob-collection. It will be: improvised, participatory, experimental.
Blac Blob is a collective from Berlin (core of the team are Emma Juliard, Arnaud Lesage) who host electronic sound-machine-construction-workshops and improvise live, holding jam sessions and concerts for experimental sound. Blac Blob functions as an informal and non-hierarchical entity where everybody's input is welcome. They are DIY (Do It Yourself) by choice and deliberately operate under the scope of many radars. The Blac-Blob-Workshops take place irregularly since 2014.
