Preview of the performance in the frame of 'reinkommen' - the latest series of the ada studios - to be shown on 16 October.
For the past three years, Johanna Ackva has been researching experiences, conceptions and practices around death, using a mix of methods such as inter-views, participant observation, auto-ethnographical reflections and speculations, reading as well as collecting, sorting and connecting objects and motifs. With a quasi-anthropological view, she investigates social forms and individual rituals that frame dying, death, mourning and the confrontation with our own finiteness. Thereby she wonders how our relationship to death, the utmost of all limit(ation)s, affects our lives. During the residency in ada Studio, Jo-hanna works on possibilities of integrating an impossible gaze at life from behind into embodied movement practice. Silence, doing-nothing and making space for essential structures and functions of the body, as skin and bones, listening and breathing, will play an important role.
Supported by ada Studio & Stage for contemporary dance.
